Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continues to dominate headlines as one of the most clinical forwards in European football, balancing prolific form for Galatasaray with ongoing transfer interest from some of the continent’s biggest clubs.
The 27-year-old, who permanently joined the Turkish giants from Napoli in the summer of 2025 for a club-record €75 million, has cemented his status as a key figure at Galatasaray. Since arriving, first on loan and then permanently, Osimhen has scored at an exceptional rate, helping the Istanbul side secure consecutive Süper Lig titles. He became the fastest player in Galatasaray history to reach 50 goals, achieving the milestone in just 59 appearances earlier this year.
In the 2025/26 season, the Super Eagles vice-captain contributed significantly to another league triumph, including a decisive brace in a 4-2 victory over Antalyaspor that sealed the title. His combination of pace, physical presence, aerial ability and clinical finishing has made him a constant threat in both domestic and European competitions.
Despite his success in Turkey, Osimhen remains a frequent subject of transfer speculation. Clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Saudi side Al-Hilal have been linked with moves for the striker this summer. Reports indicated Galatasaray received substantial offers, with figures ranging from €65 million to as high as €130 million, but the Turkish champions have consistently rejected approaches.
Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has publicly stated that the club has no intention of selling Osimhen, who is contracted until 2029 with no release clause. The Nigerian forward has also expressed satisfaction with life in Istanbul, describing his time at the club as one of the best periods of his career.
Osimhen’s high wage demands and Galatasaray’s lofty valuation have so far proved major obstacles for potential suitors. Premier League clubs in particular have found the combined cost of the transfer fee and salary challenging. As a result, the striker is widely expected to remain at Galatasaray for at least another season.
For Nigerian fans, Osimhen continues to carry the hopes of the Super Eagles. Although the national team failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Lagos-born forward remains a central figure in the squad and one of Africa’s most recognisable football stars.
