Kampala — Two employees of Next Media Services were killed and a third critically injured in a fatal road accident along Entebbe Road in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026.
Producer Badru Kasirye and content creator Isaac Ndamagye died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. near the Stabex petrol station in Namulanda. Their colleague, entertainment journalist Brian Ssemanda (popularly known as Makona), sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kisubi Hospital, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit.
According to a statement from Next Media Services, the parent company of NBS Television and several other platforms, the three staff members were returning home after a late night of work when the accident occurred. Police confirmed that the collision involved a Toyota Allex registration UA 779DE and a Toyota Hilux registration UAS 976W.
Next Media said it is in constant contact with medical staff at Kisubi Hospital and will issue further updates on Ssemanda’s condition as they become available. The company appealed for privacy for the families of the deceased and for Ssemanda’s family during this difficult time.
Kasirye was a well-known producer within the media house, having worked on popular entertainment programmes including After 5. He had recently been elevated to the role of Lead Trade Marketing. Ndamagye was a digital content creator for the group.
Traffic police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. No further details on the cause have been released, and it remains unclear whether other vehicles or factors were involved.
The deaths have sent shockwaves through Uganda’s media community. Colleagues and industry players have begun expressing condolences online, describing the pair as dedicated professionals who contributed significantly to Next Media’s content output.
Funeral arrangements for Kasirye and Ndamagye have not yet been announced. The media house asked the public to respect the privacy of the bereaved families as they grieve.
This incident adds to the growing list of road accidents claiming lives on Entebbe Road, one of the country’s busiest corridors linking Kampala to Entebbe International Airport.
