Kampala, Uganda – Standard Chartered Uganda has announced 20 women‑led tech‑enabled startups that will join Cohort 2 of the Women in Tech Uganda Accelerator Programme. The announcement was made together with Innovation Village, Village Capital and Future Lab. It shows how women are playing an increasing role in Uganda’s move toward a future.
The 2026 cohort includes founders who are creating technology‑based solutions in key areas such as Agriculture Technology, Education Technology, Health Technology, Renewable Energy, Accessibility Technology and Financial Inclusion. These startups are tackling economic and environmental problems in communities across the country. They show how women can use technology to make a difference.
The Women in Tech Uganda Accelerator Programme gives selected founders custom support. This support includes mentors, training, networking and access to money. The best startups will try to win a grant from a $50,000 pool. The money will help them grow find opportunities and increase their impact in their markets.
The programme is part of the Standard Chartered Foundation’s youth economic empowerment plan. The plan focuses on jobs, entrepreneurship, decent work and small business growth. In 2026 the Foundation will give than $600,000 in grants to 12 markets, including Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. This shows the plan’s reach and local importance.
Uganda’s digital economy is growing. There is awareness that women need more support in technology and innovation. Women‑led startups often face challenges, such as not having enough funding, networks or technical help. The accelerator targets women founders who build tech businesses to close these gaps and create an inclusive innovation system.
Partners in the programme bring strengths. Innovation Village has experience helping startups in Uganda’s tech scene. Village Capital and Future Lab bring knowledge about how to grow businesses prepare for investment and build models that can grow. With Standard Chartered Uganda they create a strong support system that goes beyond normal training and includes practical tools for growth and staying strong.
The choice of the 20 startups focuses on solutions that can be used in life. The group includes platforms that help farmers grow more and sell more tools that improve teaching, healthcare, clean energy and financial services for people who need them. The cohort shows a range of Uganda’s new tech talent.
As Uganda works toward a future programmes like the Women, in Tech Accelerator help make sure that technology benefits many people. Supporting women founders not helps gender equality but also strengthens the whole innovation flow, creating jobs making the economy stronger and supporting sustainable growth.
