Jinja, Uganda – September 29, 2025 – In a charged atmosphere filled with chants and red berets, National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, aka Bobi Wine, unveiled the party’s 2026-2031 manifesto today in Jinja City, kicking off his presidential campaign with a bold call for transformation. The event, held in the Busoga sub-region—a key 2021 stronghold—drew massive crowds of supporters eager for change, as Bobi Wine pledged a “complete reset” to end corruption, empower youth, and foster inclusive growth.

“Fellow citizens, very honored to present to you the National Unity Platform Manifesto, 2026 – 2031, which we launched in Jinja District,” Bobi Wine announced via X, framing the document as a blueprint for “A New Uganda Now.” Key promises include anti-corruption reforms, decentralized resource allocation, social liberation, and addressing regional marginalization, particularly in areas like Eastern Uganda. NUP leaders urged calm amid the excitement, with party officials departing from headquarters in Makerere Kavule to join the Jinja launch.

Live footage captured the energy: Bobi Wine addressing throngs of supporters, rallying them against the ruling regime’s alleged interference. This manifesto debut follows NUP’s recent expansions, like new regional headquarters in Mbarara and Iganga, signaling a grassroots strategy to challenge NRM’s grip. Despite launching campaigns without an initial manifesto reveal, today’s event filled that gap, positioning NUP as the voice of the disillusioned.

As Bobi Wine heads next to districts like Buyende and Kamuli, the launch amplifies NUP’s protest narrative, with echoes of “#ProtestVote2026” resonating strongly. In a politically tense landscape, this move could galvanize opposition forces for the 2026 showdown.
