In a dramatic turn of events, authorities have launched an investigation into a security breach at the State Lodge in Nakasero, which tragically resulted in the death of a woman. The incident unfolded when a vehicle, driven by Shafic Bwanika, alias Shafic Mayanja, attempted to forcefully enter the premises.
According to sources, the vehicle, traveling at alarming speed, disregarded warnings from checkpoint officers and continued its reckless approach towards the State Lodge entrance. In response, security personnel opened fire, inadvertently injuring a female occupant identified as Mercy Evelyn Aketch Adiko, 23, who later succumbed to her injuries.
The genesis of the incident traces back to a complex web of deceit, involving promises of employment abroad and substantial financial transactions. Allegedly, Bwanika, posing as a State House employee, had solicited funds totaling Shs18 million from Joseph Owor, under the guise of facilitating a job opportunity in Canada.
However, suspicions arose when Bwanika began evading Owor, prompting police intervention. A confrontation ensued at Arua Park, leading to Bwanika’s reckless dash towards the State Lodge, where he attempted to breach security barriers.
Despite warnings and intervention attempts by soldiers, the vehicle persisted, resulting in a confrontation that left both the suspect and the victim fatally injured. Bwanika’s apprehension near the blood bank in Nakasero marked the culmination of a tumultuous sequence of events.
