Kabaka Birthday Run: Ensuring Safe Roads and Exciting Races

As anticipation builds for the upcoming Kabaka Birthday Run in Kampala city, the Director of Traffic and Road Safety has issued essential traffic guidelines to ensure smooth proceedings on Sunday.

With over 110,000 enthusiastic runners expected to participate, the Kampala Metropolitan Traffic has announced road closures and diversions to facilitate the event’s success.

During a press briefing at Mengo, KMP traffic commander Godwin Arinaitwe outlined key road closures, including Xing Xing road junction, Nalongo road junction, Mengo hill road, Mwanga II road, and Ring road, to prioritize the safety of participants.

Arinaitwe emphasized that Ring road and Kabaka Njagala road will be off-limits to motorists, urging cooperation from the public for a seamless event.

For travelers from Entebbe and Masaka, alternative routes have been designated, ensuring access to Kampala city while maintaining traffic flow.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire urged participants to adhere to police instructions, emphasizing the importance of discipline and caution to avoid shortcuts, which could pose risks.

The marathon, featuring 20Km, 10Km, and 5Km categories, promises an exhilarating experience for all participants. Buganda Minister of Youths and Sports, Robert Sserwanga Salongo, underscored the importance of arriving early at Lubiri, with access controlled and participation requiring the latest Kabaka birthday run kit of 2024.

As runners prepare to hit the streets in celebration of Kabaka’s birthday, the adherence to traffic guidelines ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all involved.
